Will You Heed This Wake Up Call?

What Will It Take?

I often ask myself: what will it take for God to get our attention?

For me, it took a life-threatening injury that nearly left me paralyzed. It took the hard reality of knowing I could never return to my chosen profession. God allowed me to walk through pain, suffering, and anguish before I was willing to listen.

You see, I was obsessed with money, achievement, and success. I gave token amounts to charity—not out of compassion, but to ease a guilty conscience. I had no true concern for the suffering of others, and certainly not for their eternity. Deep down, even though I never would have admitted it, I didn’t really care if someone went to hell. I was too busy building my kingdom instead of God’s.

Sound familiar?

The Prosperity Trap

Satan has dangled prosperity in front of the church like a carrot. We’ve been told that if we just “work harder” and “give it our all,” the rewards will follow. And while we chase after success, our families are falling apart. Our children are swept away by promiscuity, drugs, alternate lifestyles, and greed. Some barely speak to us anymore, and some have shut us out of their lives completely.

But the Bible reminds us: “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). Do we believe that? Do we trust our Father after all He has done?

A Heart Check

The truth is, much of the church has lost its passion for souls. We lack the fire to see lives changed, and the results are clear. Look around: pornography, abortion, drugs, violence, broken homes, war. In so many ways it looks as though the enemy is winning.

And why? Because God’s people would rather have a bigger house for a few years on Earth than a mansion in glory for eternity.

Let that sink in.

And here’s the sobering truth: it’s not just others we risk dooming to an eternity without God—it’s ourselves as well.

No Other Gods

I was saved on September 18, 1988, but I realize now that I had broken the very first commandment: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

Whatever we place first in our hearts—money, career, possessions—becomes our god. If that’s the case, then we are not truly serving the Lord. And I believe with all my heart that this is a deciding factor in our eternity.

God knows your heart. You can’t fool Him.

Answering the Call

Maybe you feel conviction right now. Maybe you realize you’ve been doing little to nothing for the Kingdom, and you want to change. Where do you start?

Here’s one simple step: join me and believers across the southern United States in posting “Jesus Loves You” at least once a day on social media.

It’s free.
It’s quick.
It’s powerful.

Can you imagine the impact if the whole church shared this simple message of hope every single day?
